This card reader works great in our PCs and in our Macs. I can't comment on Vista, since I've gone to a mac rather than deal with Vista. The SD card that comes with it is just an added bonus.

Transcend 8 GB SDHC Card & Reader Combo
Bought this because my old reader would not recognize SDHC cards and the price was right. The reader and card both perform as advertised. You may have to invest in a short cord depending on where your USB port is located. I had no problem plugging the reader and card into an open port on my keyboard.

Transcend 8 GB Flash Memory Card and Reader
Very happy with this product. The card reader works with SDHC/SD/MMC cards, and works very well. The 8 GB card is class 6 flash memory, and is amazingly fast, and holds over 3000 pictures on my camera. Videos are processed quickly. I am using this card with my Kodak Easy Share Z8612 IS camera.
