Customer Reviews
really, really nice sound
really, really nice sound for the price. way better overall range than the creative brand counterpart. buy these with confidence.
Nice look, lots of out of the box problems.
I don't normally write reviews, but since I had been researching computer speakers for a while, I thought I should put in my two cents, here. I was debating between a number of products, and based on the reviews the Klipsch's had the best balance of value and what I thought was going to be good sound.
When I first received the speakers, they unfortunately just didn't work. That's right, I plugged them in, and they didn't turn on. Amazon was very gracious about the whole thing, shipping me a new set, and taking back the old ones without any hassle.
I just got the new ones and they definitely look great on my desk. Their sleek design and ease of use make them nice. They also have a built in base control and separate headphone jack on the back of the speaker (why you would plug into your speakers instead of just plugging directly into your music player, I haven't quite figured out). Now, the big problem I faced right away was severe distortion with minimal volume. I figure since the speakers are digitizing the sound, they can't process loud signals or high base. The distortion sounds like the music but slowed down and put through a grinder (trust me, it's a bad sound).
So, I had to turn the base and volume way down so that I could barely hear the speakers. I'm still having a little PTSD that the horrible sound I first encountered will come back, so I'm a little hesitant to turn up the volume on the speakers or the input MP3 player.
I really don't think you should have to worry about turning up the volume or cranking up the base, do you? One final annoying thing that probably won't affect most people is that since it's a digital volume nob, every time I turn off the speakers, I have to turn the volume back up to a desired level when I turn them back on. I.e. the volume resets down to the lowest level when you turn the speakers on.
My advice: avoid these Klipsch speakers and stick to simple, cheap, and effective, but maybe not so stylish JBLs which have served me well for a long time.
excellent speakers
I was ready to buy bose companion 2, but glad I saved like 40 bucks buying these. Bass is adjustable and they suit my needs....computer speakers. Love them.
